Background

The Data Services Team are a recently newly formed team that looks to manage all market data that we consume in systems used across the business to manage business processes.

 The current mix of systems is as below (to name a few):

 Charles River for OMS/EMS/PMS, pre/post trade Compliance

  • FM: Legacy fund accounting system
  • FactSet: Performance/attribution
  • Bloomberg PORT: Real time performance/attribution & Risk

 All market data used in these systems from back office data license reference data, pricing, benchmark data, ratings, classifications, c/a, market data feeds are licensed by the Data services team. We ensure the data is fit for purpose, mapped appropriately in systems as well as managing the commercial side of these vendor contracts.

Role

To begin with we would like the candidate to begin to help with some of the more reporting functions which are manual and are in the process of being automated but before we build this automation we need additional capacity to help us run the following BAU activities:

 Creation of periodic fund factsheets and Investor Reports across the full range of funds.  Creation of customised monthly performance reports for various stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Research, Senior Management and clients) using both internal and external investment reporting programs. Working with developers to design and build reports Working with internal and external parties to ensure that fund data being displayed by external data vendors is accurate and up-to-date. Analysing portfolio data to verify if IMA Sector criteria are being met. Delivering periodic reports to senior stakeholders and following through on any issues raised in reports. Working directly with clients services team to resolve client queries. Producing performance reports for various clients and departments. Working closely with me to crystallise data sets used in models for regulatory reporting like MIFID 2, FORM PF Owner needed for TCA analysis (transaction cost analysis), This is when clients want to understand the explicit and implicit costs of trading, this is done using external vendor systems which measure the implicit/slippage cost of putting a trade in the market.

 The important point to note is these responsibilities are how I believe the candidate may initially start off but we are very flexible and depending upon ability if the candidate is willing to learn more about the multiple functions we do across the team they could easily move functions and start to work more on the data management side of things where they would learn  the flow of data (data quality), understand how it moves form one system via interfaces and then how the usage of this data can be used in our warehouse/data marts for other end users to pick up and self-serve.
